Javea’s landscape

Jávea is a coastal town located in the region of the Marina Alta, in the province of Alicante next to the Mediterranean Sea. Situated behind a wide bay and sheltered between two rocky headlands, the town has become a very popular small seaside resort and market town. Javea lies on a 25 km large bay between the northern Cabo de San Antonio and the southern Cabo de la Nao. The coastline changes constantly between small bays and large sandy beaches. In the north and botanic nature reserve lays the 753 m tall Montgo Mountain. The inland distinguishes because of its fruit and wine gardens.

Javea’s economy

Fishing has a large local meaning, but the fishing harbor had to reduce its size because of the tourism and the building of a Marina in the beginning of the 60’s. Javea, as so many other coastal towns on the Spanish side of the Mediterranean Sea lives mostly from the tourism and has as good as no industry at all.
